At the opening of the Arab Media Congress in Baghdad, held from 21 to 23 May 2025, the representative of Iraq’s Prime Minister delivered a strong message on the climate emergency.
He said Iraq now regards climate change not as a secondary topic but as a fundamental national development issue affecting the country’s economic, social and human future.
The hosting of the Arab States Broadcasting Union meeting in Baghdad was presented as a sign of the government’s intention to make media a central tool for public awareness and climate action across Arab societies.
The Prime Minister’s representative called on journalists, producers and media executives to amplify the climate message and fully assume their role in building a more sustainable future for the region.
The African Union of Broadcasting was represented at the Congress by Director General Grégoire Ndjaka and Gisèle Nnemi Nga, Deputy Director of the AUB Content Exchange Centre.
